April comes with a lot of opportunities for businesses to creatively engage with their audience, especially on social media. Many holidays and national days are celebrated in April. This is a great time to plan a promotion in your content calendar that includes a blog post series, survey questions, conversations, sales, discounts, surprises, social media posts, contests, and more.

There are holidays you can use to connect with your followers. Most of these days can be connected to your business in one way or the other. Some of these days are – April Fool’s Day, Easter Sunday, World Autism Awareness Day, World Party Day, Walk to Work Day, World Health Day, Beer Day, Siblings Day and a lot more. Certain awareness events that are observed throughout the month of April include Spring Season, Stress-Awareness, Autism Awareness, Sexual Assault Awareness, Distracted Driving Awareness, Keep America Beautiful, Move More, and so on.

April holidays that last for a week include April 1–7 Laugh at Work Week, Apr 4-10 National Library Week, April 17–25 National Park Week and lots more.

Check out some of the marketing ideas for some of the April holidays you can consider for your business. Check this content online when you get a chance to see the examples we have for you, but here are some ideas summarized for you.

April 22– Earth Day

Most of us know about Earth Day. If not, here is a little info about this holiday. Earth Day is the annual movement that focuses on environmental issues such as climate change and renewable energy. Here’s what one company is doing for Earth Day. CoolTheClimate, a producer of educational and entertaining children’s digital games, comic books and videos about climate change, has announced free interactive offerings, providing special offers and discounts for children, parents and K-to-6 schools to celebrate Earth Day.

Even if your business is not connected to the environment, you can still get the word out about Earth Day and your brand, write informative blogs on how to make your office environmentally friendly for those that need to be at the office during COVID, and lastly, helping customers become aware of the importance of observing the day.

Get to Know Your Customers Day

As you know, customers are key for any business to thrive. Make use of dedicated days in April to know your customers. Get to Know Your Customers Day is observed annually on the third Thursday of each quarter (January, April, July, October). April is also International Customer Loyalty Month. This month is for companies and their staff to make an extra push to create loyal customers. A continuous effort is necessary to create loyalty, which further creates customer confidence. Offering great service is the main option to get in and retain new and old loyal clients. Here are some ideas:

  • Conducting a survey to rate your customers’ satisfaction and experiences with your firm
  • Providing an open column in social media for customer’s suggestions and complaints to improve your business
  • Making a list of your loyal customers, where you run a contest and provide attractive prizes for this selected list
  • Rectifying any mistakes or negative experiences customers came across while shopping
  • Improving on products and sharing those improvements with customers
  • And finally, sending out emails with link to your Google My Business listing along with a request for testimonials, and to sweeten the pot, offering a discount

Financial Literacy Month

The U.S. Congress has designated April as National Financial Literacy Month, since 2004. Here, the goal is to raise awareness about the importance of financial literacy education. Finance institutions and banks can make the most use of this month to improve financial literacy but most of all give the U.S. Congress a chance to see what financial institutions are following along with their updates and regulations.

For instance, DFPI’s California Financial Literacy Month Resource Fair aims at sharing resources and raising awareness about the importance of financial education, especially now with the economic uncertainties caused by the coronavirus. If you are in the finance industry, you can consider publishing a blog post on a finance-related topic of course, encouraging followers to develop ways to spend extra cash and increase savings, throughout this period of COVID-19.

April 1 – April Fool’s Day

Have some fun with your customers on this April Fool’s Day. You can even play a practical joke on them, but never make things serious. Create products for the day, ahead of time. For instance, JELL-O brand has created an at-home kit with a tasty, fully edible version of the iconic stapler prank seen on the hit sitcom “The Office.”

You can even market a fake product for this fun day, which attracts more customers. Hope you remember the Google Nose of April Fool Prank, back in 2013, where the goal was Google playing a prank claiming to have a developed a new dimension to its search engine — the ability to search for smells! As you can see, a giant like Google chose to be active with a clever prank. Meaning, no matter how big or small you are, creativity knows no bounds.  Consider this as the only time to mix business with pleasure.

In conclusion, there is more you can do to creatively market your business and attract more customers to your brand this April. If you are busy with your core business, consider professional digital marketing services in New York, like ours. Such companies can provide affordable local SEO services dedicated to meet your online marketing goals. And lastly, be able to develop personalized campaigns, so that your new visitors, your old visitors, your new customers and your old customers can be entertained and would want to spend more or use your services more.

0:00 – Here are some of the top social media marketing mistakes that need to be avoided to have a greater chance of your social media campaign becoming a success.

0:11 – Introduction – Though most businesses use social media marketing, few actually excel at using this marketing strategy in the right way and get quickly discouraged when there are few or no positive results. Social media marketing is one of the best ways to expand business reach and gain quality customers. Regarded as a critical strategy for modern businesses, marketing a certain brand using social media can be challenging as there are millions of potential customers to engage with. So you need to stand out among the competition and create a personalized approach.

0:51 – Significance of Social Marketing

Large companies or businesses often understand the significance of using social media marketing to promote their services and reach out to a greater number of people looking for similar services. However, posting on social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram or LinkedIn won’t suddenly bring any kind of magical results or a flood of customers to your business door. Like any other digital marketing medium, social media also takes its own time testing and most importantly, you have to have patience to succeed. In short, the marketing efforts need to be guided by a well thought out strategy.

1:40 – Top Social Media Marketing Mistakes to Avoid

Just as any other marketing tactic, marketing on social media must be done with care and in the right direction. Mistakes are bound to happen and can prove very costly. Many marketers make mistakes when they first implement a social media marketing strategy due to the wide variety of options. Here discussed are some top social media marketing mistakes that need to be avoided in order to increase your chances of success with your social media campaigns.

2:11 – First up is – Dismissing Social Marketing as Ineffective

Believing that social media is not right for your specific demographic or industry is wrong. There is a common misconception that social media is only for teenagers and the tech savvy. That is no longer the case. For instance, it is estimated that the fastest growing demographic on Twitter is 55-64-year age bracket and that the fastest growing demographic on Facebook is 45-54-year-olds. Social media has penetrated into all layers of society.  Therefore, managing to put together an effective social media strategy ahead of the competition will be an added advantage.

2:58 – After that would be – Starting without a Strategy

Businesses often make their first steps into the world of social media without devising a solid plan or marketing strategy. As social media is a growing outlet, billions of people can be reached by a single endorsement, which means there are tons of variations in strategies to take. Of course, not one strategy is the ideal strategy, so keep creating and testing. Please make sure to take time out to view the infographic within this blog post showcasing a basic guideline for scheduling your posts on the major social platforms. This post guideline was developed by Blog2Social who evaluated the average best times for posting using data updates from 60,000 plus businesses and bloggers around the globe.

3:55 – After that would be – Failure to Research Target Audience

As a large number of people use social media platforms, pinpointing the target audience group when posting content or sending promotions can be quite challenging. However, having correct knowledge about the target audience group and marketing effectively can help ensure success of the campaign. Don’t waste your time or your potential audience’s time. Try to design a campaign that actively works to reach the people that can benefit most from your products or services. Creating several customer persona sheets from your Google Analytics, email and social media statistics can be effective. Compiling all this data will help get a better idea about the target audience’s habits and interests.

4:50 – Next on the list is – Ignoring or Staying Silent in the Comments Section

Staying silent or ignoring the comments section is a major social media no-no. Leaving comments doesn’t just appeal to the algorithm, it also establishes connections with followers. Interacting with your target audience group in a friendly and comfortable way will encourage engagement and build trust with them. Make the best out of the audience’s relationship by listening to their suggestions and comments regularly. Listing down all the useful feedback and modifying your strategies accordingly will help improve social media performance of the brand in the long run.

5:33 – Next is – Deleting Negative Comments

Engaging in a lengthy and ugly conversation and then deleting the whole thread is a common social media mistake. For instance, if someone posts a negative review on Twitter and tags your brand, instead of letting frustration get the better of you, encourage the user to directly message you so that the issue can be resolved off public eyes. If the person commenting highlights your wrongdoing, without sending you a DM, thank them for the advice, reach out once again via a direction message or DM and improve. A simple apology or correction can turn any negative review into a positive experience. There are more options to go through once you get a chance to take a look at the written content online.

6:25 – Conclusion

Nevertheless, social media marketing can help expand or grow your business. But, at the same time, building a social media presence isn’t easy, as mistakes are bound to happen and can even show up at the ending of your marketing campaign. Avoiding the above-mentioned mistakes, companies can engage more effectively with their audience while attracting more social media users to their products, services and solutions.

SaaS and the Cloud

SaaS (software as a service) refers to third-party software applications offered in a subscription model with payments at regular intervals. The applications are built on the cloud and delivered to customers through the internet. The software can therefore be accessed from multiple devices.

00:24 SaaS Applications for Various Requirements

You can get SaaS applications through the private cloud, public cloud as well as the hybrid cloud.

  • Private cloud version is for the exclusive use of an organization, which could possibly own the infrastructure.
  • Small organizations can really benefit from the public cloud though, by which the infrastructure is the responsibility of the cloud service. The infrastructure is available for public use, though the particular SaaS application is for the concerned client.
  • Hybrid cloud applications can switch between private and public cloud though they are primarily designed for only one of these.

01:15 Benefits of the SaaS Model

SaaS has many advantages such as reduced costs, lesser infrastructural strain on resources, greater scalability, easy upgrades, etc. That’s why SaaS is becoming more of a norm than before for businesses. But this is just an overview of the benefits. Let’s look at the advantages of SaaS in detail:

  • SaaS platforms offered on the subscription basis — no upfront licensing fees involved, and because of that you get a reduction in the initial set up costs that would usually come with upfront paid services and hardware installations.
  • Also you don’t need to worry about software and hardware maintenance, which means more areas for reducing costs.
  • With cloud configuration and installation, SaaS applications are easy to set up.
  • SaaS applications are also easily accessible. You only need internet connection. They are available on various devices.
  • Upgrades to the application can also be deployed quickly since they are carried out centrally by the software provider. Businesses don’t need their technical departments to handle this.

No matter your size and security needs, there are SaaS application types to use. As we saw earlier, not all SaaS applications are offered on the public cloud. There are SaaS applications for the private cloud as well. These may not be as simple as the public cloud versions, but vendors provide customers with the required training.

00:05 Importance of having a better title tag

Looking for ways to rank high on search engines and increase organic click-through rate of your webpage before this Christmas? Try optimizing your title tag. Having the right title can sometimes separate you from your competitors that get tons of traffic to their site. So, what are some ways to enhance your clicks just from a catchy title tag? Let’s look into that right now.

00:29 Use brackets in your titles

First off, brackets in new titles – It helps to break up your title tag, improve readability, and will give you a drastic increase in post views. Here’s some food for thought. According to a study by HubSpot, headlines with bracketed clarifications, examples, photos, the word photo in bracketed, the word interview in bracketed, the word video in bracketed, slideshow, etc., all of these types of bracketed words perform 38% better than headlines without clarifications. There’s a small gift list waiting for you on the blog pertaining to this subject. Hope you’ll like it.

01:15 Use crisp and concise titles

Okay, now let’s jump into using crisp and concise titles. Ever heard of less is more? This strategy focuses on making sure the reader understands, in the most simplistic way, what the content will be all about. This can be difficult, but title tag max characters should help you and stick in within parameters.

01:39 Use keywords at the beginning of title tags

Using your keywords at the beginning of the title tags – Adding your keywords at the beginning of title tags helps Google understand quickly what your topic will cover as well as helps users get a quick insight without even finishing the title. Also, it helps you out with competitors as well. Sometimes, people stay away from seeming as though they’re keyword stuffing. Other times, it is as simple as the keyword not being able to make the headline sound enticing enough to get a click.

There’s a lot more insight into all that was mentioned here today via the blog content for this podcast online. Stay tuned.

00:21 Add Current Photos of Your Business to Your Profile

No matter if you had your account for a while or just created one, make sure to have updated photos with variations to highlight your business in different lights. Remember what may work for one person may not work for the next. So, show off your building at different angles, etc.

Once you double check your contact page and if it works on mobile and desktop alike, have it added to your GMB listing. Now let’s move to COVID concerns.

00:53 GMB Guides Businesses during COVID-19

With COVID-19 being a major problem all around the world, I’m sure it could trouble your customers. Google My Business provides guidance for businesses affected by COVID-19. Find the rest on this blog post.

01:08 Details to add in your GMB Description

For now, let’s keep your customers from worrying when they check online. You can add updates to customers that may include adjusted hours of operation, especially with the obvious 6 feet of distancing practice in place, selection of an attribute to highlight your online services, classes, appointments, or estimates.
