Hello this is Monica Thomas the  SEO & Search Marketing Manager for medresponsive.com

This week’s “Five Minute SEO” podcast will cover easy ways to SEO your content.

In order for your content to be indexed by the search engines, you must incorporate some basic Search Engine Optimization (SEO) components. Sure you may think, “Well if I write intelligently, visitors will come”. Aww if it was only that easy. Unfortunately, the search engines need a strong roadmap to find your content. This SEO roadmap consists primarily of Keywords, Associated Keywords, Meta & Schema tags along with relevant, engaging content.  Keyword research is always the first step in any successful SEO content strategy.

First steps are to discover which keywords and phrases your targeted audiences are searching for along with researching the keywords your main competitors are targeting. Think about what keyword phrases your audience would put into the search engines to find your content.

By using a Keyword research tool like Google’s Keyword planner or SEO profiler, you can create a spreadsheet and determine keywords are searched for the most. Plan your content around keywords that are relevant to your business and will draw traffic to your content. Work your targeted keywords into your content primarily by adding the main targeted keyword phrase into the first sentence or paragraph of your content. Never over stuff your content with the keywords you’re targeting. SEO content writing is always a marriage of aesthetics & SEO. Make sure that you first write informatively to engage your targeted audience then gently weave the keywords in.

Content pages that need optimization include:

  • Landing pages
  • Product pages
  • Static pages
  • Blog posts
  • Social Media posts

Any content that is visible to your audience.

The next step is to add Title tags & Meta descriptions. Title tags & Meta descriptions are found in the source code (behind your web pages). They are the primary way search engine bots find, scan and index your content. Search engine bots examine your content’s source code for keywords and relevant content, then index pages according to these directives. By placing these tags and descriptions, you are essentially showing the search engine bots which keywords you want to show up for in the search engines.  Many website content management systems like WordPress include the opportunity to add Yoast. Yoast is an SEO WordPress plugin that enables you to easily add Title tags & Meta descriptions.

There are many more SEO components like H1 & H2 tags that will help you gain exposure, but this is a great start.

By optimizing your content pages along with your Title tags & Meta descriptions, you are taking the first steps in making your content visible in the search engines so you can ultimately gain more business. Specialized content writing services provided by reliable digital marketing professionals can help businesses produce quality, optimized content.
