April comes with a lot of opportunities for businesses to creatively engage with their audience, especially on social media. Many holidays and national days are celebrated in April. This is a great time to plan a promotion in your content calendar that includes a blog post series, survey questions, conversations, sales, discounts, surprises, social media posts, contests, and more.

There are holidays you can use to connect with your followers. Most of these days can be connected to your business in one way or the other. Some of these days are – April Fool’s Day, Easter Sunday, World Autism Awareness Day, World Party Day, Walk to Work Day, World Health Day, Beer Day, Siblings Day and a lot more. Certain awareness events that are observed throughout the month of April include Spring Season, Stress-Awareness, Autism Awareness, Sexual Assault Awareness, Distracted Driving Awareness, Keep America Beautiful, Move More, and so on.

April holidays that last for a week include April 1–7 Laugh at Work Week, Apr 4-10 National Library Week, April 17–25 National Park Week and lots more.

Check out some of the marketing ideas for some of the April holidays you can consider for your business. Check this content online when you get a chance to see the examples we have for you, but here are some ideas summarized for you.

April 22– Earth Day

Most of us know about Earth Day. If not, here is a little info about this holiday. Earth Day is the annual movement that focuses on environmental issues such as climate change and renewable energy. Here’s what one company is doing for Earth Day. CoolTheClimate, a producer of educational and entertaining children’s digital games, comic books and videos about climate change, has announced free interactive offerings, providing special offers and discounts for children, parents and K-to-6 schools to celebrate Earth Day.

Even if your business is not connected to the environment, you can still get the word out about Earth Day and your brand, write informative blogs on how to make your office environmentally friendly for those that need to be at the office during COVID, and lastly, helping customers become aware of the importance of observing the day.

Get to Know Your Customers Day

As you know, customers are key for any business to thrive. Make use of dedicated days in April to know your customers. Get to Know Your Customers Day is observed annually on the third Thursday of each quarter (January, April, July, October). April is also International Customer Loyalty Month. This month is for companies and their staff to make an extra push to create loyal customers. A continuous effort is necessary to create loyalty, which further creates customer confidence. Offering great service is the main option to get in and retain new and old loyal clients. Here are some ideas:

  • Conducting a survey to rate your customers’ satisfaction and experiences with your firm
  • Providing an open column in social media for customer’s suggestions and complaints to improve your business
  • Making a list of your loyal customers, where you run a contest and provide attractive prizes for this selected list
  • Rectifying any mistakes or negative experiences customers came across while shopping
  • Improving on products and sharing those improvements with customers
  • And finally, sending out emails with link to your Google My Business listing along with a request for testimonials, and to sweeten the pot, offering a discount

Financial Literacy Month

The U.S. Congress has designated April as National Financial Literacy Month, since 2004. Here, the goal is to raise awareness about the importance of financial literacy education. Finance institutions and banks can make the most use of this month to improve financial literacy but most of all give the U.S. Congress a chance to see what financial institutions are following along with their updates and regulations.

For instance, DFPI’s California Financial Literacy Month Resource Fair aims at sharing resources and raising awareness about the importance of financial education, especially now with the economic uncertainties caused by the coronavirus. If you are in the finance industry, you can consider publishing a blog post on a finance-related topic of course, encouraging followers to develop ways to spend extra cash and increase savings, throughout this period of COVID-19.

April 1 – April Fool’s Day

Have some fun with your customers on this April Fool’s Day. You can even play a practical joke on them, but never make things serious. Create products for the day, ahead of time. For instance, JELL-O brand has created an at-home kit with a tasty, fully edible version of the iconic stapler prank seen on the hit sitcom “The Office.”

You can even market a fake product for this fun day, which attracts more customers. Hope you remember the Google Nose of April Fool Prank, back in 2013, where the goal was Google playing a prank claiming to have a developed a new dimension to its search engine — the ability to search for smells! As you can see, a giant like Google chose to be active with a clever prank. Meaning, no matter how big or small you are, creativity knows no bounds.  Consider this as the only time to mix business with pleasure.

In conclusion, there is more you can do to creatively market your business and attract more customers to your brand this April. If you are busy with your core business, consider professional digital marketing services in New York, like ours. Such companies can provide affordable local SEO services dedicated to meet your online marketing goals. And lastly, be able to develop personalized campaigns, so that your new visitors, your old visitors, your new customers and your old customers can be entertained and would want to spend more or use your services more.
